Hospital Emergency rooms are not able to treat the condition, so unless my vital signs are showing something critical, please do not transport, but rather communicate with my Immediate Contact.
Condition: I have a condition known as Desert Storm Syndrome with associated nerve damage that occurred during exposure to unknown mixture of nerve agents. Public episodes are rare.
Episode triggers: Stress, extreme pain, overwhelming emotional situation, physical exertion.
During a Medical Episode conditions resemble stroke like symptoms including:
- Shaking of the hands and/or feet
- Extreme fatigue that may appear as paralysis
- Inability to audibly respond to questions
- Confusion (I may not know where I am)
- Numbness
- Difficulty breathing
- Irregular heartbeat
- Lethargy
PLEASE SPEAK IN A CALM, CLEAR VOICE
Please do not yell or physically shake me trying to promote a reaction as this makes the episode worse!
Under most circumstances the effects of an episode can wear off between 1 hour to 2-3 days with rest.
ALSO: In an episode, I have no ability to defend myself. If I am in an unsafe circumstance please assist in placing me in a protected circumstance until my ability to respond returns or my care giver arrives.
I walk with a cane, walker or wheelchair when needed.
